Dr. Dunec brings extensive experience in both the application of mathematical-modeling software to a wide range of disciplines as well as in the training of users in modeling methods. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, specializing in numerical simulation of thermal-fluidic systems. He has gathered more than two decades of experience in the field: first as a product engineer and manager at IBM, then at a startup developing multiphysics software, and most recently as an engineering consultant heading up his own firm, Venture Product. As a graduate teaching assistant he taught courses in mathematical modeling and numerical analysis at Stanford and the University of California at Santa Cruz. In recent years he has also devoted considerable time teaching courses throughout the US that have helped scientists and engineers learn to use FEMLAB to their best advantage.
“After having Dr. Dunec work for us as a valued consultant for several years, we are delighted to have him on board full time,” says Svante Littmarck, President of COMSOL, Inc. “Over the years he has demonstrated an extremely high level of expertise in this area, and we have had nothing but rave reviews from people who have attended his courses. He makes a very strong addition to our staff.”
The decision to establish an office in Palo Alto comes as a result of the significant success COMSOL has enjoyed in the West Coast through the Los Angeles office as scientists and engineers in all branches of research, industry and education discover the benefits of FEMLAB for the mathematical simulation of virtually any physical process. Comments Dr. Dunec, “COMSOL has built up a strong presence among the high-tech companies in the Western states, and now the Palo Alto office is strategically located close to several major academic institutions as well as the numerous high-tech firms that populate Silicon Valley and the surrounding area. These companies are among the leading R&D facilities in a wide range of application areas, and FEMLAB provides an exceptional tool to assist them in that work. Furthermore, besides providing local sales and support, I envision that the Palo Alto office will emerge as a world-class teaching and training facility for FEMLAB users.”
